What is CWELCC?
The Government of Canada has recently unveiled its Canada-Wide Early Learning and Child Care (CWELCC) system, which aims to enhance accessibility and affordability in childcare options for families. Effective September 2025, eligible licensed childcare institutions, such as Polka Dot Montessori, will only charge a daily rate of $10 for children under the age of six.
We are thrilled to announce that Polka Dot Montessori is officially enrolled in the CWELCC program, enabling us to extend the reduced tuition fees to both current and prospective families. Let us delve further into this exciting opportunity!
The Canada-Wide Early Learning and Child Care (CWELCC) system aims to provide families with access to high-quality and affordable childcare options through the following initiatives:
-
Reduction in childcare fees for parents of children aged six years and below.
-
Expansion of childcare spaces.
-
Enhancement of support for the childcare workforce.
-
Encouragement of inclusive childcare practices.
Plan for Reduction in Fees:
The Canada-Wide Early Learning and Child Care (CWELCC) system aims to provide families with access to high-quality and affordable childcare options through the following initiatives:
-
Reduce childcare fees by 25% by April 2022.
-
By the end of December 2022, a 50% reduction.
-
By September 2025, an average of $10/day/child at participating institutions.
What does this mean for parents and guardians?
Please be advised that we continue to accept eligible participants in regional childcare subsidy programs. These programs remain available for families to apply for financial assistance to support the cost of licensed childcare.
The fee subsidy amount is calculated based on your family's income, through an income test administered by your local service system managers. For eligible children, the fee will be reduced by 25%. For further information or to apply for the childcare subsidy, please contact your local service system manager.
Childcare Subsidy
Families with children under the age of six are not required to submit an application to receive reduced childcare fees. Our revised fee schedule at Polka Dot Montessori already includes these reductions, and they will continue to decrease in accordance with the government's action plan in the years to come.
Childcare Tax Credit
It is important to note that the Ontario Childcare Tax Credit program remains in effect for eligible families.
Polka Dot Montessori has already enrolled in the CWELCC system and our fees have been updated accordingly.
If you have any inquiries, please do not hesitate to reach out to us. We would be happy to engage in a discussion regarding the CWELCC program or any of the other services we offer.
Given the reduced rates, registrations are filling up quickly. We encourage you to book a tour of our facility at your earliest convenience. Now is the perfect time to become a part of our vibrant community at Polka Dot Montessori.
