What is Montessori?

Polka-Dot Montessori is a daycare that follows the Montessori method of education. This method was founded by Dr. Maria Montessori, who observed that children displayed self-discipline, love of order, and a concentration in intellectual activities when given a well-ordered physical environment and the freedom to choose their activities.

The Montessori philosophy holds that all children carry within themselves the person they will become, and that the Montessori classroom provides the environment and materials for their personal development.

The goal of Montessori education is to cultivate curiosity, a love for knowledge, and a strong desire to learn in children. This is achieved by allowing each child to learn at their own pace and by perfecting their natural tools for learning. The Montessori classroom provides hands-on learning experiences that encourage exploration and absorption of information through all senses.

Dr. Montessori believed that early childhood education should prepare children for future learning by helping them concentrate and learn effectively. This is why the Montessori method is particularly effective for children aged 3 to 6, during their sensitive period for learning. The child's intellectual progress is accompanied by emotional and spiritual growth, leading to a high sense of self-esteem and inner discipline.

Polka-Dot Montessori offers individual attention to the whole development of each child, helping them build the foundation for their future success and happiness.
